Red As the Flame
This was part of a three-part color series I created back in 2011. The backgrounds are from fractals, put together in Paint Shop Pro.

His Bright Materials
I took the fractal I used in Storms of Life and played with it, rotating, recoloring, adding layers, etc., and ended up with something that looks rather like a combination between a gravity well and a lightning storm.

Circular Reasoning
An attempt to illustrate Infinity. From atoms to galaxies (actually fractals, but they can pass for galaxies), plus some circles and rings. The fractals were made in Apophysis, the rest I made and put together in Paint Shop Pro.

Deep Sea Spirals
This was the result of playing with golden spirals. And the dark greens and blues, plus a little hint of purple, look like something under deep waters.

Somewhere in Outer Space
I was playing around with fractals and textures and came up with this image. I thought it looked like a lost planet against the backdrop of a galaxy or nebula. Or maybe like one of those Magic Eye pictures with the sphere standing out from the background pattern.

Easter Eggs
This picture came from my playing around with shapes in Paint Shop Pro. I started with a spiky silver shape and repeated and rotated it until it seemed to make a good setting for an Easter egg, and the rest of the design followed from that. And I love all the shades of maroon, pink, lavender, and blue that come out in the spring and summer!

Dusky
This was one of my first fractal/abstract works. I was practicing how to make the jeweled orbs and metallic filigree. I think the jewel turned out pretty well, but the filigree was still a bit rough around the edges. I chose the title because I like the word “dusky” as well as the the dark grey/blue/purple color it sometimes signifies. A few months later when I got a grey kitten I named him “Dusky” too.
