As a solitary traveler nears his destination the bright lights of the mountain village welcome him to a cozy home.

I just wanted to do something with lights in a dense fog.

Here's a winter/fantasy scene in the “cwm” in the mountains that I've used for several other pictures. This time it's winter, and the solitary cottage dweller is expecting company.

I had been to an opera, and one of the acts opened with these multicolored spotlights and three lanterns. I decided to recreate a scene like that for April Fool's Day, and the colors made me think of a harlequin or jester's motley costume.

This was inspired by M.C. Escher's Still Life and Street, with a medieval twist.
